New York City Center presents an evening with the d’Amboise family

Curated and Hosted by

Wendy Whelan

As part of her new role as New York City Center’s first Artistic Associate, the acclaimed ballerina Wendy Whelan will talk with three generations of the celebrated d’Amboise dance family. Jacques d’Amboise is a dance legend who joined New York City Ballet at 15, founded the National Dance Institute, and received the Kennedy Center Honors. Jacques’ son Christopher d’Amboise quite literally followed in his footsteps; he is a Tony Award-nominated dancer. The family trade lives on in Jacques’ granddaughter Shelby Mann, who made her NYCB debut a few years ago in George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker.

On April 13, 2015, the three dancers will join Whelan in City Center’s Studio 5 to talk about Balanchine, dance bags, tutus, and why dance is a way of life.
